Y’know, I scrolled past this and thought to myself, “yeah, this is pretty cute, but I’m not gonna reblog it.”
Until I saw that last gif.
until this year of high school i always laughed at these because i thought they were inaccurate, they are not. they are not at all inaccurate.

The worst offense comes from the fact that people did this without my /explicit/ permission. Gaining more eyes for my work is something I appreciate, but not if it is done without my consent.
I don’t like those pages that share my art without permission even if they credit properly, because those who see my works through a second party will perceive an even less personal connection to me, the artist, and they will have a more lax conscience about taking those images and reposting them on even more websites - and likely without source.
I’ve had my name erased from far too many of my works for me to be unfazed by this. Over the years I’ve had people come to me, saying, “OMG I DIDN’T KNOW YOU WERE THE ARTIST OF THIS PICTURE I’VE SEEN FLOATING AROUND /EVERYWHERE/ ON THE INTERNET" And it is not a compliment. It’s basically saying to me that some assholes went and took my art and erased my identity as the creator from it.
And it’s not just reposts/reprints - I’ve seen my work stolen and put on mugs, posters, bootleg dvd covers being SOLD on websites and actual, physical STORES and it is sickening.
I used to be the type of artist who loved to upload high quality resolutions of my pictures so that other people can see the details better- but there are people who have and will take advantage of these things and steal my efforts and work for cheap ass attention, pageviews, notes, faves, followers, money - I don’t fucking know, the list goes on.
It’s exhausting, it’s a big reason I stopped being active on deviantArt, a big reason a lot of my drawings are ridiculously self-indulgent as opposed to “drawing what a lot of my watchers/followers want to see.”
So no, I really could care less about free commercial and I sincerely doubt many of the other artists from pixiv / tumblr / dA would even approve their work being reprinted without consent. Just because you think you’d be okay with it does not by default make it the general consensus.
